Expense Tracking
HostFi tracks every expense by property and category, giving you a clear picture of where your money goes.
Categories
Every expense is assigned to one of these categories:

| Supplies | Guest supplies, toiletries, linens | Line 22 (Other) |

| Other | Anything that doesn’t fit above | Line 22 (Other) |
These categories map directly to IRS Schedule E for tax preparation.
Adding Expenses
There are 6 ways to add expenses:
- Manual entry — Add expenses one at a time from the Expenses page
- Email parsing — Forward bills to your unique @in.hostfi.ai address
- Receipt scanning — Upload a photo or PDF of a receipt
- CSV import — Bulk import from a spreadsheet
- PMS sync — Auto-extracted from booking data (cleaning fees, platform commissions)
- Bank sync — Auto-imported from your bank account via Plaid
Search, Sort, and Filter
The Expenses page supports:
- Search — Find expenses by description or vendor
- Sort — Sort by date, amount, or category
- Filter — Filter by property, category, or date range
- Pagination — Navigate through large expense lists
Editing and Deleting
Click any expense row to open the edit modal. You can update any field or delete the expense.
